The light fixture is usually very hard to remove, and having it close to the floor is very easy for any homeowner to fall down. This article will give you some tips on how to move the fixture safely and effectively.

The first thing that you should do when you are going to remove the light fixture is to make sure that you are wearing proper safety gear, such as ear plugs and a helmet. You should also have other items on hand that can be used in case something falls and hurts you. This includes a bucket to scoop up any debris that may land on you. If you are going to use a ladder, make sure that you know where it is and how to use it properly.

When you have everything else set up, the first thing that you should do is to carefully go up the steps towards the front of the house. Once you reach the top of the steps, you will want to pull up on the side of the fixture to loosen it so that you can easily take it off. Take care not to lose your grip and injure yourself, as you may end up with a broken leg.

Next, you want to open the door of the fixture by pushing the door up against the ceiling in order to help it slide out easily. Be careful as you are doing this as to not injure yourself as well. Once you have opened the door up, you will want to remove the wires by carefully removing the rubber grommets that are found on both sides of the wires. To take the wires off safely, you will want to hold them with one hand while using your other hand to gently lift the wires off of the fixture.

When you have removed the wires, you will need to attach them to a long screw, which is located on the back of the fixture. Start by inserting the screw, and then turn it clockwise. It is important to use a wrench to help you get it to turn the way that it needs to. Once you have done this, the bulb should be able to be unscrewed.

With the light off, you will want to slowly slide the fixture out of the wall. As you move it along, you will want to pull the wires until they are free of the fixture. Once you have taken them all out, you will want to place them into the bucket that you bought earlier.

After you have taken out the wires, you will want to tape down a good location on the floor of the garage or basement where you want to put the light fixture in. Take a section of wood and start to construct the base for the fixture. Take the screws that you used earlier and attach them to the base of the fixture. Be sure to use a bit of padding between the screws and the fixture in order to keep your floor from getting too wet.

Once you have attached the screws, you will want to cover the area with a piece of drywall that has been cut to fit the area. Using the glue, you will then attach the fixture to the drywall. Finally, you will want to re-assemble the fixture and put the light back into the fixture.
